Recently I met Ryna and Pieter at a new spot (It wasn’t just invented, I just didn’t know about it) on Table Mountain. Ryna and Pieter are tying the knot in December, at Kersfontein near Veldrif. It will my first time shooting there, and from the website it looks really cool. I cant wait!! It was really easy to photograph Ryna and Pieter, as they are both deep souls, I think it really comes out in these images.

View Stefan and Ina’s Pre Wedding Portrait Collection.

Stefan and Ina reside in Switzerland, met in Belgium and are from Austria!!…Or something like that. It was confusing, and exciting. They met a few years ago and came to Cape Town for a holiday. A few years later…IE (NOW), they return to wed, this coming Friday in Kommetjie.

Looking forward to their beautiful day in beautiful Kommetjie.

Janine and Andreas currently reside in Dubai, and recently held their wedding ceremony at Cascade Manor near Paarl. We all met just a couple days before the wedding and we decided to do some shots around the Waterfront. I kind of like to work around an area for a while and then go find a new spot, so lately I have been shooting down that way. There are just so many spots all over Cape Town, I dont think one could really run out of great places to shoot.

The wedding was held this last week, and the shots we captured are epic!! However, I have to spend the next week or so editing some past weddings and complete design on a couple of albums.

I have so much exciting news about a project I am involved in, and will be telling more soon. I have about 6 shoots still to post images from recent shoots. So give me a few days and this blog feed will be buzzing.

View Jan-Bart and Jennifer’s Wedding Collection.

Jan-Bart and Jennifer held their wedding at a friends beautiful estate home in Wellington, Western Cape. It was a small wedding and all the guests had flown in from all over Europe to celebrate Jan-Bart and Jennifers wedding. Having done the preshoot a few days before the wedding, we were all very much in a creative spirit together. It was also great to shoot the wedding photography at a private residence, as it was a bit different than shooting at a wine farm. Although I love shooting on the beautful Cape Wine Lands estates, something different every now and again can be refreshing.

I was also thrilled to have been able to work again with Nikkila Mann who was on hand to do make up, and also good friend and amazing bridal wear artist Robyn Roberts made both Jennifers beautiful dress and also Jan-Barts suit.

Westside Studio Films was the video team, and will be launching a brand new website in about a month. I will make sure to post a small film from Jan-Bart and Jennifers wedding when it is ready!!

Im shooting a wedding this Saturday at the Mount Nelson Hotel (Michael and Tyneel) and then on Monday will be working with the Nikon Icons team to shoot the first portrait of Francois Pienaar, Check back soon to find out all about the Nikon Icons Portrait Series, which will have a spot on Carte Blache each week for the build up to the World Cup!!

View Maritsa and Wayne’s Wedding Collection.

Beautiful Maritsa and Wayne celebrated their wedding on October 10th at Club Mykanos near Laangebaan. The wedding was great and everyone had a loads of fun, and everything worked out perfectly. Especially the weather. I met Maritsa at her guest house about an hour and a half before the wedding and we did a whole bunch of portraits on the roof over looking the sea. It was really windy but made for great shots.

We also decided to do the casual portrait shoot after the wedding, so we are going to meet again in a few weeks in Cape Town to create a new addition to the Cherish Series.

It was my first time photographing a wedding at Club Mykanos which is about 130Km outside of Cape Town on the West Coast. As the name describes it is themed after the area of Mykanos in Greece, and is an awesome spot outside Cape Town to have a wedding, and a great venue for photography.

View Jan-Bart and Jennifer’s Portrait Collection.

Jan-Bart and beautiful Jennifer who reside in Germany, and are over for their wedding next week met me at the waterfront yesterday for their pre wedding photography portraits. I knew that we were in for a great shoot as we have been emailing back and forth over the last while getting ready for the pre shoot and then the upcoming big day!!

I was so thrilled the way they really got so nicely dressed up and how positive they were for creating some crazy imagery. Needless to say, we had tons of fun, and shot at the Waterfront (Granger Bay parking lot), Bo Kaap, and then drove out to Milnerton for the last of the sunset.

Im going to write more about Jan-Bart and Jen, next week once I have their wedding photography ready to post.

View Shaun and Jacqui’s Wedding Collection.

Shaun and Jacqui celebrated their wedding on September 26th at Eureka in Durbanville. It was a great day, and there was so much love in the air. There always is I guess at weddings, but Shaun’s speech to his new wife family and to see the strong love and kind words for his mom and 4 siblings was really cool.

I would have liked to be able to work around the venue but we were blessed with copious amounts of severe rain fall!! With some of my wedding photography packages I offer a post wedding shoot, where we go and capture images we wouldnt normally be able to on the wedding day. And no, I dont Trash the Dress….!! Im sure you have heard of Cherish!!

All these images were edited with the same editing tool that I have created called Autumn Afternoon. I think it will be evident in this wedding photography collection that there is a certain feel to the images, yet you can see a unique diversity to every image. View John and Orla Pre Wedding Portrait Collection.

I arrived back from beautiful Kerry in Ireland yesterday. I couldn’t wait to download all the images that were captured from my trip to Ireland for the wedding of amazing Orla and John.

I was collected from Cork airport by Orla’s Aunt Kathlyn and for the next two hours we drove and chatted about things until we arrived at Orla’s family home near Kenmare in Kerry. The location was so stunning and lush. Flying over Ireland tends to have a view of clouds, and just clouds…from the sky (like cause it rains 24/7), but coming through the clouds you slowly see the green fertile farm lands appear beneath and you know, your in Ireland.
Wow, wow, thats all I could think when I finally arrived at the house, and also what was to be the location of the wedding reception.

Day two started with meeting John and Orla in the morning to discuss the upcoming wedding day. We also decided to go and view a few of the locations and stop by the church (which was built by Orla’s Grandfather 50 years ago).

Along the way we just had to capture a few portraits. John told me he loved the shot I took a while ago of Sariette and Zane sitting on the bench. So I promised to recreate it….kind of!!

Ive posted some pics here, but there are many more to come, from the landscapes of Kenmare County and ofcourse the main event. The extremely cool couples wedding from September 5th. I hope you love these initial shots.

A little about Westside Studio Films : Westside Studio which is the company that I originally started a few years back was at first, just me and the name I used to represent my photography and my wedding photography services. As Westside grew, I decided to rather have Westside Studio as a parent company for different services, and to be the name to represent professional wedding imagery and artistic services. So about a year back I started working with Marnus and Leon from Magic Hour. Magic hour specializes in music videos and works with many of the top bands in South Africa.

We both felt that wedding videography (or films as we would rather refer to it as) was lacking in South Africa. Having worked with quite a few of the main wedding videographer teams in Cape Town and not exactly being impressed with the final product, I felt that there was a gap for high end creative wedding films in Cape Town . We thought with our different skills in creative photography and music videos we could create the ultimate creative wedding films team.

Our first assignment as Westside Studio Films was to capture the wedding of Andrie and Sean. We are in the process of setting up an individual site for Westside Studio Films. We tried but he was adamant! Anyway, I just said to Jason and Elaine. Come to Cape Town and we will spend the day doing the formal portraits. It was a great day in Cape Town and we shot all over the place. From my studio, Bo Kaap, and also in Town.
