Recently I met Ryna and Pieter at a new spot (It wasn’t just invented, I just didn’t know about it) on Table Mountain. Ryna and Pieter are tying the knot in December, at Kersfontein near Veldrif. It will my first time shooting there, and from the website it looks really cool. I cant wait!! It was really easy to photograph Ryna and Pieter, as they are both deep souls, I think it really comes out in these images.

Nic and Lauren (Portraits)

Nic and Lauren were married a little over a year ago (and I just so happened to be their wedding photographer) and we have remained in contact and have seen each other at a few events over the last while. Their wedding last year was held at the Vineyard Hotel. Recently we got in contact with each other and Lauren mentioned that she really appreciates the way that I like to capture my subjects amongst nature (yes I guess I really do love to do that) and said she would love a few images that were more landscape nature based images, that they were apart of. We had lots of fun on the shoot, and even got a couple scratches climbing rocks and braving glass littered beaches.

I decided to return to one of my favourite spots in Cape Town near the 12 Apostles Hotel, where I shot portraits of friends Bonnie and Brian. Hope you love these shots as much as I do, and if you are interested in setting up a similar portrait session then let me know and we can arrange it.

Westside Studio Films : Andrie and Sean Wedding Film Clips (Films)

As many of you know and for those many that have already booked Westside Studio Films to capture your wedding video, this coming season, we thought we would post a couple videos from Andrie and Sean’s wedding film and video sessions.

A little about Westside Studio Films : Westside Studio which is the company that I originally started a few years back was at first, just me and the name I used to represent my photography and my wedding photography services. As Westside grew, I decided to rather have Westside Studio as a parent company for different services, and to be the name to represent professional wedding imagery and artistic services. So about a year back I started working with Marnus and Leon from Magic Hour. Magic hour specializes in music videos and works with many of the top bands in South Africa.

We both felt that wedding videography (or films as we would rather refer to it as) was lacking in South Africa. Having worked with quite a few of the main wedding videographer teams in Cape Town and not exactly being impressed with the final product, I felt that there was a gap for high end creative wedding films in Cape Town . We thought with our different skills in creative photography and music videos we could create the ultimate creative wedding films team.

Our first assignment as Westside Studio Films was to capture the wedding of Andrie and Sean. We are in the process of setting up an individual site for Westside Studio Films. Jason and Elaine (wedding portraits)

As mentioned in my previous post. Jason and Elaine were married in June in Jozie!! The wedding reception was held at the Saxon Hotel. The Saxon hotel is the super famous hotel in Joberg where Oprah, Bill Clinton (those types) stay when they come to SA. Anyway, on the day their was a new manager working at the hotel, and he would let us take any of the reception photos. I was shocked!! Everyone was. The manager (who no longer is the manager!!) thought that because they don’t allow people to take photos of the property, that meant that when there is a wedding on, no one could take any photos. Yes, Ludicrous!

We tried but he was adamant! Anyway, I just said to Jason and Elaine. Come to Cape Town and we will spend the day doing the formal portraits. It was a great day in Cape Town and we shot all over the place. From my studio, Bo Kaap, and also in Town.

Sean and Lynne (portraits)

If you check out my Cherish site you will see my latest shoot was with Sean and Lynne. We shot most of the Cherish shoot at a studio in Woodstock.

Amongst setting up for the different themed shots, I also shot a few straight portraits of the two. Sean and Lynne, said I could do whatever I wanted in terms of portraits. Ahh, that was cool because I love to work with different ideas and movement.

Anyway, I love the portraits. Hope you do too!

Sean & Andrie (portraits)

Sean & Andrie met me a few days before the wedding to chat about the big day and also to meet for the pre wedding portraits. We had decided on a location in town, but when we arrived there was a huge film shoot at our location. I was wanting to shoot on Signal Hill after so we just headed up there first. Their wedding images will also be posted soon.

It was such a stunning day, well until fire started coming out of Sean’s hand and skies opened up……..?
