Chanel and Paulus are to be married in October 2010 in Darling (an awesome area for a wedding). Recently we got together to do their pre wedding shoot that I do with all my wedding bookings. It was lots of fun and we had great weather. In fact this winter so far has been awesome, not too much rain and the days are generally pleasant. Im sure there are a few of you out there who would beg to disagree and say it has been cold, but coming from Canada we think its a nice day if its above 0C…When I was a kid at school, and the day would go from -10C to 0C the next day all the kids would be running around in tshirts like it was the middle of summer. Well, you can imaging my shock when moving to Cape Town to find people dressed like they are in the arctic and its like 14C….Madness all around!!

Anyway, these two were a pleasure to work with and besides being a good looking and fun couple they are also both doctors!! Impressive. I mentioned to Paulus that Im currently doing my pilots license training and he mentioned he wants to do it too. Paulus!! In the words of “Nike in the 80s”….JUST DO IT!

The Goosen family met me at the wedding of Huibre and Schalk. They are from Pretoria side but wanted some nice family shots for their holiday house in Strand. Being the off season, I have time now to shoot family portraits and stuff like that. It was an awesome day and we went to a couple secret spots on the massive hill beside my office.

Mark and Kate’s wedding will be my final wedding for the 2009 and 2010 season. I still am editing all the last few jobs from the season and looking forward to a bit of a break. Its been the most exciting and busy season of my life. I have had so many things happen that maybe ill even try sum it up for those of you that like to look at my site and my work.

Anyway, Mark is from Zimbabwe and Kate is from Chicago. Besides doing the pre shoot we also made a little video that we are working on that is kind of a tounge in cheek video about Kate Town, I mean Cape Town and also with some stellar acting by both these two in some of their favourite spots in CT. Ill post the video when it is ready.

Also, which is kind of cool is that Mark and Kate are getting married in Bree Street Studios and I live across the road from it. SO it will be the officially closest wedding to my window. I think it is about 70 foot away! Should I drive? Should I swim? or shall I just fly?

Gren and Ashleigh contacted my after a referal from friend and awesome photographer Monica Dart (she was busy…luckily for me). Gren and Ashleigh needed a photographer for their engagement party at Asoka, and I suggested that we combine it with a portrait session. We didnt have much time, but luckily we had some light left in the day, and we all went on a little journey around town.

Gren and Ashleigh are the owners and creators of the clothing shop Poppa Trunks. They have other ventures too, very impressive couple and super stylin!

Marc and Nicky are neighbours of mine!! Well they are now, and Marc actually helped me get settled in the building that I recently moved into. All you girls gushing to get to know me better, I now live at Westside Studios (Line up…not). It is of only totally coincidence that my business name is also called Westside Studio. So if your driving by and you think “Wow, he has a big studio” well you can know that it sadly aint all mine!
Nicky and Marc are getting married later in the year, and super fabulous friend and photographer Jules Morgan is going to shoot the big day. Besides now being friends the shoot was lots of fun and we got to use a 1965 Mustang for some of the shoot, and the shot of Marc stabbing the pan….well I have no idea what we were thinking. Did I mention Marc’s wine collection? Enough said. I hope you dig these!

Lelanie and Lambert and I (Im Ian), met at my studio and decided that we needed a loooong walk in order to complete our shoot. There is a certain place I like to go and Ill keep it a secret but its my favourite spot and I only use it 2 or 3 times a year. I dont know what it is, but every now and again, I will meet people like these two and think. Ok, the spot!! I shot Jason and Caryn there a few months ago and also shot there over a year ago with Tim and Vanessa. Anyway, these two aren’t even engaged yet. But a little bird told me that they might be soon. Weeeeelllll!!!!! What are you waiting for Lambert!! Your bride to be is so beautiful that I encourage you to make the date! A lovely couple, a lovely walk and my favourite, deep and wondrous portraits or two deep and wondrous souls.

Matt and Shelley met me yesterday at the Mill area in Wellington. It is such a cool place to shoot, and I cant get enough of it. This duo currently live in the UK and are going to have their wedding at Nooitgedacht wine estate. I would have to say that I now officially have shot at Nooitgedacht more than any other wedding venue, and luckily its one of all time favourite locations. So very much looking forward to their big day.

As mentioned Im working with the band Reburn from Cape Town. Im shooting all their stills and Marnus from Westside Studio Films is shooting 8 music videos for their upcoming album. The band RAWKS!! I went and checked out their live set the other night at China White. I might also be directing one of their upcoming music videos. I guess that will me directing debut. I have high hopes for the band and really think that they are a diamond in the rough. In the future we will be doing more themed photo shoots. Cant wait.

Marnus and Tammy are celebrating their 5th anniversary together and they contacted me to do some portraits. They were quite specific that they wanted something different. Marnus also works at Westside Studio and runs the film division. Besides being one of the most inovative wedding film makers in South Africa, he also films and produces music videos and short movies. We are currently working with the band Reburn and we are doing a series of photoshoots and also portraits for their upcoming album. Im going to post some images that I am working on with Reburn shortly.
