Byron contacted me a few days before their wedding and asked if it was too late to book me to shoot their wedding in Matjiesfontein in the Western Cape. I have never even heard of the place, but after meeting Byron and Kim I knew that it was going to be a nice place. They are the kind of people that would only celebrate something like a wedding somewhere very special.
Once I arrived in town, I was overtaken with how amazing it was. I explored the town for over an hour in shock and awe of how cool it is there, and also what Matjiesfontein is. Basically it’s a historical rail town in the Little Karoo, that has been preserved and the whole town acts as a hotel with museums to explore. I could probably go on for a while about how amazing it was there, but I wont. Ill let you look it up your self Matjiesfontein Town Page/
Kim and Byron are both fashion designers, both super creative people and both really nice. We had two different photo shoot sessions together, and had I more time we could have shot in hundreds of spots. I cant wait to go back there.
Kim and Byron, organized the wedding in two weeks. If it had taken a year to organize I would have been impressed. Every thing was so perfect, from the dress, the decor, the setting and the great people they surround themselves with too.
Being Fashion designers, Kim had her dress made with the help of some of her friends. She made it in under two weeks. I think it is one of the nicest wedding dresses I have seen, and it wasn’t made by bridal designer…..impressive!
If I was going to have a wedding, I think I would have to say I would have it at Matjiesfontein. Yes, Im going to say it. Its my favourite venue in the Cape, maybe everywhere…well everywhere that I have been fortunate enough to visit already.
